Lyophilized (Powder) Peptides
Unreconstituted peptides in powder form are the most stable:
- Room temperature: Stable for several weeks
- Refrigerator (2-8°C): Stable for several months
- Freezer (-20°C): Stable for 1-2 years or more
Best Practice: Store lyophilized peptides in the freezer for maximum shelf life. Keep them in their original sealed vials away from light and moisture.
Reconstituted Peptides
Once mixed with bacteriostatic water, peptides are less stable:
- Refrigerator (2-8°C): 3-4 weeks typical stability
- Freezer: Generally not recommended (can damage some peptides)
- Room temperature: Not recommended – will degrade quickly
Storage Tips
- Avoid light exposure – Keep vials in a dark place or wrapped in foil
- Avoid temperature fluctuations – Don't repeatedly freeze/thaw
- Keep vials sealed – Minimize air exposure
- Use bacteriostatic water – The preservative extends shelf life
- Label everything – Include reconstitution date and concentration
⚠️ Signs of Degradation: Cloudy solution, particles, unusual color, or no effect may indicate a degraded peptide. When in doubt, discard and use fresh.
